Residents in public housing were battling mold, bed bug infestations and a litany of maintenance issues while living in decrepit apartment towers. After years of unanswered maintenance requests and being targeted by the building supervisors, they found the access to justice they needed. We partnered with churches, politicians, activists and a local law firm to secure the residents safe and adequate housing in renovated buildings. The last remaining residents in the towers are moving out as the renovated apartments are completed. This joint effort showed the true power of humans helping each other and taught many lessons to those involved.
